Join us this year on Saturday, September 7 to raise money for BackPack Buddies!
Check-In (Bib & T-Shirt Pick-Up) and Race Day Registration will be located in the Trinity Baptist Church Recreation Outreach Center (ROC). Water fountains and restrooms are located inside the ROC, for race day access. If you need assistance during the race day activities, please look for one of our many NH5K Volunteers (their shirts will say "Volunteer" on the back)! We are looking forward to a fantastic morning together as we support Backpack Buddies through Inter-Faith Food Shuttle!
BackPack Buddies is a program that runs in numerous U.S. cities and seeks to provide children from food-insecure homes with healthy weekend meals during the school year. The children are identified by school guidance counselors and social workers to be recipients of the BackPack meals at the end of every week. All food is non-perishable. The food is placed in a backpack, so the need is less noticeable to other children.
According to the USDA, in the U.S., 12 million children may not know where they will get their next meal. Please join us on Saturday, September 7, 2024, as we raise funding to support this critical program to eradicate child hunger in our area. Children in our own community should not have to worry where they will get their next meal. If you are not able to join us on race day, please consider a donation of any amount (www.northhills5k.com).
Race History:
Last year a heavy rainstorm caused the Raleigh Police Department to cancel the event minutes before the start of the race as they considered it to be unsafe to hold the event.
In 2022, Banks Blizzard finished 1st overall in the 5K race with a time of 17:38, while Jamie Hollen was the top female with a 21:02 clocking.
Sam Montclair holds the course record at 16:00 in 2018. Betty Geiger holds the women’s course mark of 18:25 set in 2011.
The entry fee for the 5K is $30, increasing to $35 after August 16. The fee for the Senior Stroll is $10 and for the 100-yard dash, it is $7 ($10 on race day). There also is a "Inspired but too tired to attend" option for $30. T-shirts are guaranteed if entered by August 19.
