Why Race:

2022 NORTH HILLS 5K Beneficiary—BackPack Buddies

BackPack Buddies is a program that runs in numerous U.S. cities and seeks to provide children from food-insecure homes with
healthy weekend meals during the school year. The children are idenfified by school guidance counselors and social workers
to be recipients of the BackPack meals at the end of every week. All food is non-perishable. The food is placed in a backpack,
so the need is less noficeable to other children.

According to the USDA, in the U.S., 12 million children may not know where they will get their next meal.
Please join us on Saturday, September 10, 2022, as we raise funding to support this crifical program to eradicate child hunger
in our area. Children in our own community should not have to worry where they will get their next meal. If you are not able to join us on race day, please consider a donafion of any amount (www.northhills5k.com).

NC Race Series

We are proud to be a part of the NC Race Series. Formerly known as the Second Empire Grand Prix Series, the new NC Race Series is carrying on the traditions of bringing runners together for fun, community and competition.

The series continues to have a great, competitive culture for those who are interested in running for time and placement. In order to be eligible for the Series Awards, runners must run in at least 8 races and register in each race as a competitive runner. At the end of the season, the best 8 times will be scored and totaled. The lower times will be dropped. Awards will be given to the top 5 overall men and women. Awards will also be given to the top 3 age group finishers, men and women. Age groups are as follows: 12-under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-over.
